Screening the Signer

CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES THAT IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS MUST BE CURRENT OR ISSUED WITHIN FIVE YEARS. MUST POSSESS A PHOTOGRAPH, PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION, SIGNATURE AND AN IDENTIFYING NUMBER.

Identification

The following identification is acceptable: 

CA DMV Driver’s License or ID 

U.S. Passport

Inmate ID Card issued by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, if the inmate is in custody in a California State Prison. 

Foreign passport 

Driver’s license or ID issued by another U.S. State.

Employee ID card issued by an agency or office of the State of California. 

U.S. Military ID w/ photograph, description of the person, signature and identifying number. 

ID card issued by a federally recognized tribal government.

What is an Acknowledgment ? 

An acknowledgment is a certificate certifying that a signer personally appeared before the Notary, was identified by the Notary and acknowledged signing the document. 


What is a jurat ? 

A certificate found in affidavits and other sworn documents, certifying that the signer personally appeared before the Notary, was identified by the Notary, signed in the Notary’s presence and took an oath or affirmation from the Notary. 


You notarize my signature but the document was rejected by the receiving agency, will correct the mistake ?
